Seven days through the Top End of Australia’s Northern Territory — from Darwin east to Kakadu, south to Katherine and Nitmiluk, and back through Litchfield National Park.
Dawn at Yellow Water brought still billabongs, birdlife and saltwater crocodiles, followed by a scenic flight over Kakadu’s escarpment and river country. At Nitmiluk we cruised through Katherine Gorge, then cooled off at Katherine Hot Springs. The road back to Darwin took in Edith Falls, Florence Falls, Buley Rockhole and Berry Springs, ending at Mindil Beach as the sun dropped into the Arafura Sea.
The photographs follow that shift in scale: wide aerial views, sandstone gorge walls, wetland wildlife, swimming holes and a crowded beach at sunset.
