1. Botanical Gardens
IMO the number one must see in Singapore. And this comes from a guy with fairly low interest in plants. An absolutely magical place. Helia restaurant in the park is a delicious and romantic (if somewhat expensive) place to dine.
2. Bugis shopping center
Tourists gravitate to Orchard Rd, but locals go to Bugis to shop. Better prices and they have pretty much everything in a relatively compact area.
3. Peninsular plaza if you’re into cameras.
- Cathay Photo is excellent and a step above all the stores in the nearby Funan Plaza.
See Cathay Store link here: http://www.cathayphoto.com.sg/contacts
4. Little India
Far more interesting than China town – Singapore itself is a Chinese City! Some decent restaurant options if you’re into Indian curry – particularly in the back streets where prices are significantly lower.
5. Maxwell food court.
This is where all the locals go for lunch. Cheap and delicious. Tian Tian hainan chicken is renown for having beaten Gordon Ramsey in a taste off. Come before 11:40 to beat the lunchtime queues and snag a seat.
6. Brunch at a top hotel.
The all you can eat options are superb. Should definitely check out.
